FlipMargin
Privacy
Last updated 16 August 2026
FlipMargin has no account, no server of mine, and no analytics. Nothing you record reaches me, because there is nowhere for it to go.
Where your records live
On your iPhone or iPad. What that covers:
- What you paid for each item, when you bought it, where it came from, which bin it is in, and any photos you attached.
- Every listing and every sale: the platform, the asking price, what it sold for, the fee breakdown that applied the moment it sold, what the buyer paid for shipping, and what the label actually cost.
- Expenses and mileage, with the IRS standard rate for the year you logged the trip in.
- The 1099-K totals you type in, so the app can set them beside your own books.
- Settings. Fee templates, your language, the Death Pile cutoff, whether Pro is unlocked.
iCloud sync
Signed in to iCloud? FlipMargin keeps those records in step across your own devices through CloudKit's private database. That database sits in your Apple Account. I cannot read it, cannot list it, and cannot ask Apple for it. What Apple does on their side is covered by their privacy policy, not mine.
Switch iCloud off for FlipMargin in the iOS Settings app and everything stays on the one device.
Camera and photos
The app asks for the camera when you tap Take photo, and for your photo library when you tap Choose photos. Not before. Pictures you add are filed with the item they belong to, and they go nowhere except your own iCloud.
What leaves your device
Nothing that reaches me. FlipMargin makes no network requests of its own. No analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier, no third-party SDK at all.
Exports move, and you move them. A Schedule C summary or a CSV is built on your device and handed to the iOS share sheet. You pick where it goes. I never see it.
Purchases
Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple takes the payment and tells the app one thing: whether Pro is active right now. Your name, your card, and your Apple Account never come to me.
Deleting your records
Delete items and sales inside the app. Deleting the app clears the local copy.
The iCloud copy is separate. Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage, and delete FlipMargin's data there.
Export works on the free tier, so you can take everything with you before you go.
Children
FlipMargin is a bookkeeping tool for people running a resale business. It is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, so does the date at the top.
